New Place // Crater Lake, Oregon
I have a road trip planned in April to go meet some old college friends. We decided on Bend Oregon. I am super excited to visit Bend for a number of reasons I will probably write about later, but this trip finally gives me an excuse to check out Crater Lake National Park.
Unfortunately, there are only two campgrounds around Crater Lake that are not open in the winter. We could get a backcountry permit to camp, but that requires us to trek at least 1 mile from the car. If there is snow on the ground, I think we will have to pass on camping.
We will probably cruise around the entire rim, then stop at the Cleetwood Cove trail. That is the only spot you can swim and fish in the lake. It may be cold water in April, but I will have to jump in for a quick dip. Here is the PDF for some of the activities around Crater Lake.

I have been doing a lot of traveling lately and I need to recommend my favorite travel accessory. The Bose Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are a game changer. You have no idea how loud a plane is until you use these headphones. They are fairly expensive at $350, but if you were ever to splurge on a product, this might be the one.

I also use these headphones at our office. We have an open concept space with a lot of distractions. My team now knows that if I am wearing these headphones, I am not to be bothered. It is almost like having an office door :-).
Best Self // Hot Baptiste Yoga
A new hot yoga studio just opened up behind my house. At the request of my girlfriend, I joined her for a Hot Baptiste Yoga class. Baptiste Yoga is a vigorous and challenging flowing practice for both the body and mind. Coming off a recent surgery, my entire body, but especially my back, was extremely tight. One 75 minute class loosened my muscles to the point where I did not feel stiff. It was pretty amazing, I was blown away.
I am still in the early stages of hot yoga, but I will be committing to one class a week to help with my flexibility and reduce overall muscle stiffness. I am hoping that by doing this class, I will be able to recover quicker from long runs and heavy weight sessions.
